ICYMI, REM reunited. For one song.

On the occasion of REM’s induction into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, all four members got back together for an interview (their first together in 30 years) and then played a surprise one song performance at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. It was the first time Michael Stipe, Peter Buck, Mike Mills, and Bill Berry performed together since 2011 when they were inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

(To be clear, Bill Berry has dropped in to play with the band every once in a while since he retired in 1997. But still…)

  • I was so very much hoping that they were going to announce a reunion at the end of this interview. It actually upset me when I discovered they were all very much happy (shining people) to not do it. Nice to see the acoustic “Losing My Religion” even tho this is one of my most disliked REM songs. But I will take what I can get. Still sitting here … still hoping.
