Now that we’re into November, the British start speculating over what single will be #1 on the last chart day before Christmas. This is a betting ritual that goes back decades. Pushing a song to the top involves graft and bribery, social media campaigns, and all manner of lobbying the public. It’s all about identifying THAT ONE SONG new or old that can be pushed to #1 with sales and streaming.
For the last two years, the winner has been LadBaby. In case you’re unaware, this was their chart topper in 2019.
