If you care about who gets into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, read this.

Come Tuesday (October 15), The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will reveal the class of 2020 nominees. All that really matters are the 900-ish members of the Hall’s nomination committee, but they like to pretend that fans have a say in things.

There is a fan voting component each year. The winner will receive precisely one (1) vote towards getting in.

Here’s the latest progress information in the fan voting race.

  1. Motley Crue: 3,152 votes
  2. blink-182: 2,217
  3. Iron Maiden: 1,771
  4. Dave Matthews: 1,552
  5. Cher(!!!): 1,455
  6. Styx: 1,445
  7. Boston: 1,303
  8. Weezer: 1,295

Only one vote for finishing at the top of the leaderboard? I think that with 900 people that get to choose the fans and supporters of the RNRHOF sjoyld get more than what equates to 1/80000th of a say who gets in.

I was at the RNRHOF in July & my choice was for Bob Mould. I know it’s a long shot but he was such an influence to the punk scene in the 80s & beyond!
