If You’re Into Music Education and Want to Visit Scotland…

And you aren’t busy in July, you may want to check out the World Conference on Music Education in Glasgow, Scotland.

Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city and was UNESCO’s City of Music in 2008, a recognition of a vibrant music scene that stretches from contemporary to classical and from celtic to country. It is the home of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the National School of Piping, the Scottish Opera, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Scottish Centre for Traditional Music. It is also the birthplace of many of Britain’s contemporary musicians from the past six decades including Donovan, Franz Ferdinand, Mark Knopfler, Alex Harvey, members of AC/DC and Simple Minds.

The 2016 ISME World Conference will celebrate the music of Scotland in all its forms from the ancient to the modern. One of the featured speakers at the event is Joan Armatrading:

Three times Grammy nominated, two times Brit nominated, winner of a coveted Ivor Novello Award, winner of the Gold Badge Ward, singer/songwriter Joan Armatrading MBE has come a long way since her birth in the West Indies and her upbringing in Birmingham. With 20 stunning albums to her credit including her album, Starlight released in 2012, Joan’s subtle and sublime music has touched millions of people all over the world.
