I’m not gonna lie: The UK Christmas #1 winner is disappointing

For the third year in a row, LadBaby has claimed the coveted Christmas #1 on the British singles chart with yet another novelty song about eating sausage rolls.

LadBaby’s first #1 was in 2018 with “We Built This City on Sausage Rolls” (a repurposed “We Built This City” from The Starship). Last year, it was “I Love Sausage Rolls” (sung to the tune of “I Love Rock and Roll”). Only The Beatles and the Spice Girls have had three Christmas #1s.

Competition this year came from Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You,” Wham’s “Last Christmas,” and this song that was my favourite. It stalled at #5. How disappointing.

Here’s the top five.

  1. Don’t Stop Me Eatin’ – LadBaby
  2. All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey
  3. Last Christmas – Wham!
  4. This Christmas – Jess Glynne
  5. Boris Johnson… – The K’s
