Is Indie Pop Even a Genre?

That’s the question posed by Eshac News.

When I mention indie pop in certain circles it starts an instant debate about whether or not independent pop music is a real thing or even a truly notable genre. Many emerging musicians and independent pop labels have begun describing themselves as “indie pop” – but isn’t this genre label just a big contradiction in itself?If you ask me, the term indie pop both is and isn’t a real thing and in order to understand this you have to look at evolution of the two root genres that indie pop would be subcategorized under.
