Indie to Know: 5 Bands to Hear This Week
Welcome back to Indie to Know, where I sift through all the emails and links we get like a old timey prospector in order to find gold… for your ears! Lets get started!
AquaMurmur
AquaMurmur hail from the Surf Coast of Australia and they’ve managed to balance atmosphere and pop melodies into a nice throwback sound. Great stuff to start your day with.
Last Second Dropout
Last Second Dropout is a pop punk/rock with a bit of rap thrown in for good measure. It’s always a good sign when a song makes my feet actively tap along with it. Catchy and hard to resist, fans of the more pop side of Sum 41 should check them out.
Subliminal Massage
Sometimes we get something we like and it’s hard to explain why… or even tell you about the band. Subliminal Massage are based out of Thailand but are British born. Post punk that would fit at home on a Quentin Tarantino soundtrack. Their first track, “Combat Fatigue” is hypnotic and smooth.
Zanorak
Speaking of smooth sounding, Zanorak are a three-piece alternative act from France that grabbed me right away. If you like melancholic music of the shoegaze variety, keep an eye on these folks. As of this writing, not a one of them is over twenty-one. Very much looking forward to see what they can mature into.
Patient A
Brothers Daniel and Zachary Kula originally hail from Toronto and are forging dreamy alternative music under the name Patient A. Their music can be calming or it can kind of punch you in the face a little.
And in case you missed it, here’s last week’s recommendations.
