Indie to Know: 5 Bands to Hear This Week

Welcome back to Indie to Know, where I comb the deserts of our email looking for hidden gems to share with all of your faith for readers. Here are the five diamonds in the rough I discovered this week.

Wade Easy

Wade Easy hails from Morgantown, West Virginia and is making what I can only describe as folk music for the apocalypse. A fascinating mix of psych, folk and other sounds with vocals that sound like they may have been recorded in a missile silo. Check out “The Bloody Feet of Atomic Beasts” and you’ll get what I mean.

Daysick

A little more light than the last entry. Daysick are from Nova Scotia and kind of strike me as a rock band with a hint of Green Day or Sum 41. They are currently working on an “alternative rock opera centered around a man confined to a psychiatric ward, desperately trying to convince others and himself that he is not insane.” Colour me intrigued. In the meantime, check out “The Cost of Applause”

Elfia

Alternative metal act Elfia only have two tracks available that I can find, but both grabbed my attention pretty quickly. I love the use of real world sounds on “Spare.” If you like Deftones more atmospheric stuff, this could be for you.

Saint Clare

Indie post-punkers Saint Clare released their latest album Everyone’s Old and No One Goes to Parties Anymore (a title that I…ahem… can relate to) in April. A six piece that definitely has dashes of The Cure, Pixies and Interpol in their DNA but also a definite bop to their sound.

Jetstream 20/20

Indie rock from the North West of England, Jetstream 20/20‘s latest single has a really catchy melody to it that you may find yourself humming for the next few hours. Also, I’m a sucker for claymation style videos.
