It Was 40 Years Ago This Week That Ziggy “Died”

It was July 3, 1973, that David Bowie stepped to the mic at the Hammersmith Odeon and claimed that this was his last show.  It wasn’t Bowie’s last show, of course.  It was just Ziggy that was retiring.

Ziggy remains one of the most influential creations in the history of rock music. This BBC 4 documentary covers it pretty well.
