It’s box set season. The Smashing Pumpkins and Green Day are part of it.

I’m a sucker for a good box set and we’re coming up on the best time of year for them.

First up a special edition of Green Day’s Warning album to celebrate the release’s 25th anniversary will arrive on November 14, Expect multiple configurations, including a super deluxe box set consisting of 5 x LPs or 4 x CDs featuring 49 songs.

That’s a lot of extra material, so let’s break it down,

  • 8 demos,
  • 2 new mixes on the special B-Sides and Rarities disc,
  • 21-track recording of a 2001 concert at SHIBUYA-AX in Tokyo, Japan.
  • The 5 x LP version of the Super Deluxe Box Set will be pressed on Green Galaxy, Yellow Marble, and Orange Galaxy vinyl.
  • A 24-page booklet, poster, cloth patch, button set, and sticker sheet.
  • A special D2C and Indie Retailer version also boasts a yellow Warning” construction sign.
  • The CD configuration of the Super Deluxe Box Set features a 32-page book, cloth patch, button set, and sticker.

The set is being promoted with a demo of the song “Castaway”.

A week later, we’ll get the 30th-annversary edition of The Smashing Pumpkins’ Mellon Collie and the Infiinte Sadness,

  • Expect a 6 xLP super deluxe edition (a 4 x CD set will arrive January 9).
  • Each edition contains the original tracklist plus 80 minutes of previously unreleased recordings from the 1996 Mellon Collie tour.
