It’s happening: AI can now write entire songs with music, lyrics and vocals. And it’s scary good.

Next to looking for a coronavirus vaccine, artificial intelligence is the hottest thing going in science right now. Boffins in lab coats insist on accelerating the robot uprising by not only making machines smarter but more creative, too.

This week, a group called OpenAI introduced a system they call Jukebox which can write complete songs in a variety of styles.

By allowing Jukebox to analyze a huge dataset of songs, it learned how to mimic the songwriting process in a way that’s–well, just listen to this sample. Remember, no meatbags were used in the creation of this country song.
