All your Oasis reunion news in one place. (The very latest updates as of 8 pm EDT Aug 29)

Note: I’ll try and stay on top of this until all the dust settles on the weekend following tickets going on sale. Check back for updates. This is the latest information from around the planet as of 8 am EDT, Thursday, August 29.

The Eagles said they’d never work together again. We got the “Hell Freezes Over” tour. Guns N’ Roses were never going to come together again. We got the “Not in This Lifetime” tour. Now Noel and Liam Gallagher are putting Oasis back together. What’s are we going to call this? The “Signs of the Apocalypse” tour? The “When It’s Over, Send in the Asteroid Because We’re Done Here” tour?

Whatever you want to call it, it’s happening.

The first Oasis show since that night in Paris in 2009 will take place on July 4, 2025. Here are the announced dates:

  • July 4-5: Cardiff Principality Stadium
  • July 11-12, 19-20: Manchester Heaton Park
  • July 25-26 and August 2-3: London Wembley Stadium
  • August 8-9: Edinburgh Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium
  • August 16-17: Dublin Croke Park

UPDATE: More dates have already been added bringing the total number of dates to 17–so far. Expect even more to be added after this weekend.

  • July 16: Manchester Heaton Park
  • July 30: London Wembley Stadium
  • August 12: Edinburgh Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium

Tickets for these goes go on sale at 9am GMT/8am (IRE) this Saturday (August 31).

UPDATE: When tickets go on sale Saturday, Ticketmaster will have a strict limit of four tickets per household and per credit card. I quote: “Please adhere to published ticket limits. Persons who exceed the ticket limit may have any or all of their orders and tickets cancelled without notice by Ticketmaster at its discretion. This includes orders associated with the same name, e-mail address, billing address, credit card number or other information.” You might always want to read up on the “pre-sale ballot.”

UPDATE: Estimates are that all tickets–and there will be 1,066,888 tickets available over the 14 gigs–will be gone in under three minutes. This will be the biggest test of Ticketmaster’s back-end systems since the Taylor Swift episode in November 2022. Will their servers stand the strain? We’re about to find out.

UPDATE: Speaking of ticket demand, let’s go back to Oasis’ two Knebworth show in 1996 in front of 250,000 people. It’s estimated that 4% of the British population tried to get tickets to those dates. Demand for this reunion tour will probably be even higher.

UPDATE: Ticket prices have been announced.

  • Cardiff: £73 (standing)/£150 (better standing)
  • Manchester: £148.50 (standing)
  • London: £101.75 (seating)/£151.25 (standing)
  • Edinburgh: £74 (seating/£151 (standing)

UPDATE: Hotels in cities where the tour has been confirmed are being accused of canceling reservations and re-listing rooms at higher prices.

UPDATE: People are already trying to calculate the economic impact this tour will have on the UK.

What about North American dates? A spreadsheet was leaked before the announcement, and it was mostly correct with the UK and Dublin dates. Along with a possible third Manchester date, it lists the following gigs on this side of the Atlantic.

  • Toronto: August 24 (with an option for a second show on the 25th) at Downsview Park
  • Chicago: August 27 (with an option for another show on the 28th) at Soldier Field
  • East Rutherford NJ: August 30 (with an option for August 31) at Met Life Stadium
  • Boston: September 2: Gilette Stadium
  • Los Angeles: September 6 (with an option for September 5): Rose Bowl
  • Mexico City: September 11 (with an option for September 12)

UPDATE: I don’t know how accurate this is, but another spreadsheet of dates is now circulating.

Expect plenty of breathless news coverage about how quickly tickets will move this weekend. And what about people scalping tickets? There are precautions against that.

We’re already hearing about global spikes in Oasis streams. They’re up 160% as of August 26. The band now has 21.6 monthly listeners on Spotify, making them the 328th most popular act on the platform. YouTube views are up, too.

The only thing that matters is that Liam and Noel will be there. Guigsy, Bonehead, and [insert name of any drummer here] will not. The backup band will be Noel’s High-Flying Birds, which features one-time Oasis guitarist Gem Archer. As you might remember, the rest of Oasis went with Liam to be in Beady Eye. I’m sure they’re pleased about this news.

UPDATE: Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs is expected to join the lineup. He’s well enough from his battle with tonsil cancer. The latest guess on a lineup is Noel, Liam, Bonehead, Gem Archer, and Chris Shamrock.

UPDATE: The brothers could earn more from this tour than they made in all the 1990s.

UPDATE: Oasis says they will NOT be at Glastonbury 2025.

UPDATE: Will any new music come out of this? And why was Noel seen heading into a recording studio? And did Liam hint about a new album months ago?

UPDATE: The memes are great.

A couple of notes from me:

  • It appears that the rumours of a reunion that appeared more than a year ago were correct. Scheduling all these shows at such large venues would have taken time.
  • Another thing that would have taken time is the contract. Can you imagine the language outlining the penalties if Liam and Noel don’t make it through the entire tour?
  • There was a secret photoshoot before this announcement way back on July 24 that went surprisingly smoothly. The secrecy and security must have been mind-boggling. Read more about that here.
  • Who will be the support acts for these shows? A quick poll of fans brings up names like Kasabian, Blossom, and Fontaines DC.
  • How many times have the brothers said that this will never happen over the last decade-and-a-half? Rolling Stone attempted to list all those occasions but also included this caveat:

[Note: Well, not ALL the times, because that list would potentially approach infinity and tax the server capacity of the Internet. The Gallagher brothers have spoken about this constantly in interviews and on social media over the years, with Liam frequently referring to his brother as a potato. “[I’m asked] every day of the week,” Noel told us in 2016. “People say, ‘You’ll definitely re-form — you will,’ and I’m just like, ‘That’s so fucking rude.’ They try to Jedi-mind-trick me.” Consider this a best-of, and definitely not a Jedi mind trick.]

  • Are we making predictions on whether things implode before the tour starts or how many dates they get in before the drama starts?
