It’s Polaris Music Prize season again. Here are your dates.

Even before the 2023 Polaris Music Prize was handed out last September, a group of about 200 Canadian music industry obsessives (I am one) have been, er, obsessing over the best Canadian releases since June 1. We have until the end of the May to make our cases for albums, regardless of their genre or commercial success.

Then, somewhere north of 200 albums will be voted upon. It’s the first step towards crowning the winner for 2024. Here are the key dates.

  • June 11: The Long List (a preliminary cull down to 40 nominated albums).
  • July 11: The Short List (the final ten)
  • September 17: Polaris Gala (we get the winner)
  • October: The Heritage Prize

You can get your tickets for the gala here.
