Janet Jackon’s “wardrobe malfunction” the subject of a new doc

Remember the halftime show of Superbowl XXXVIII? Yeah, that one. The one where Janet Jackson‘s nipple was exposed to an outraged America. (Damn, the US is afraid of female nipples!) The fallout from this less-than-two-second exposure continues to reverberate today. (Fun fact: YouTube was in part created because its eventual founders were annoyed that they couldn’t find a clip of what happened online. That’s 100% true.)

Justin Timberlake somehow managed to survive the blowback. Janet Jackson, the owner of the nipple, wasn’t so lucky. As a result of gross sexism, her career suffered. The indignities to which she was subjected were insane.

No wonder there’s now a documentary. Read more at Esquire.
