Jay Z’s Fired Hyphen Posts “Position Wanted” Ad on Craigslist

Sometime last week, Jay Z called the hyphen he’s been using in his name into the office.  Sitting next to the desk was a person from HR.

“Hyphen,” said Jay Z, “We’re making some changes around here.  I’m sorry to say that we’ve eliminated your position in the spelling of my name and that your services are no longer required.  We thank you for your years of service and wish you well in your future endeavours.”

An envelope was pushed across the desk.  “Inside you’ll find the terms of your separation and a generous severance package.  Take it home, give it a look and consult a lawyer if you think it necessary.  If you’re happy with it, please return a signed copy to us in five days.”

The hyphen was understandably shaken up.  How could his boss do this to him?  Hadn’t be been right there for him all these years?  And now he was being fired?  For what?  It’s not like Jay Z need to cut costs or anything.

But the decision had been made.  After going home for a little cry and half a bottle of scotch, the hyphen signed off on the severance and began the process of moving on.  One of the first things he did was place an add on Craigslist:

If you know of anyone looking for an experienced hyphen, why not throw the guy a bone?  He can also be followed on Twitter.  Good luck, sir.
