Jeremy Dutcher won his second Polaris Music Prize

The big Gala for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize was held last night (September 17) at Massey Hall in Toronto. The grand prize winner was–once again–Jeremy Dutcher, the Indigenous artist who won in 2018. This makes him the first artist in the history of Polaris to win twice. He won previously for Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa.

After much deliberation, the empaneled jury awarded the $50,000 grand prize to Motewolonuwok. It beat out the other nine albums on the Short List:

  • Bambii, Infinity Club.
  • The Beaches, Blame My Ex.
  • Charlotte Cardin, 99 Nights.
  • DijahSB, The Flower That Knew.
  • Elisapie, Inuktitut.
  • Cindy Lee, Diamond Jubilee.
  • Nobro, Set Your Pussy Free.
  • Allison Russell, The Returner.
  • Tobi, Panic.

Nominations and suggestions for the 2025 Polaris Music Prize have already begun.
