Johnny Marr to Receive Honorary Degree

The Smiths’ guitarist (and let’s face it:  that’s how we’ll always identify him) is set to become a doctor.  At least in an honorific sort of way.

This Thursday (July 19, 2012), he’ll pick up a doctor of…something (this article doesn’t say; Letters?  Music?) from the University of Salford in Manchester.  That’s appropriate given that he’s been teaching music courses at the university since 2007.

Here’s an assignment for someone:  make a list of all the rockers who have ever received honorary university degrees.  Has it been done?
