Johnny Rotten Challenges Queen to a Cake Fight

Now this is something I’d pay to see.

Back in 1977, the Sex Pistols did their very best to sabotage the Queen’s Silver Jubilee with “God Save the Queen” and a flotilla past the Houses of Parliament on the same weekend as the big celebrations.  Now, thirty-five years later on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee, he’s in fine form on the topic of the monarchy.

When asked by The NME if he’d like to meet the Queen to discuss the Pistols, he replied “Oh, yes, but I well know what I’d do.  I’d have a cake fight.”

My most favourite quote from Johnny about the Queen?  The time when he called her “A f**king German tourist.”  (Look up the history of the House of Windsor; that’s a very, very clever taunt.)
