Kanye West Spotted Wearing a Testament T-Shirt. Testament Reacts
I’ve got this thing about people wearing band t-shirts as mere fashion accessories. I know, I know, I’m being snobbish and elitist. But when I see Justin Bieber wearing a Marilyn Manson shirt or Kim Kardashian sporting something from Slayer, my colon tightens. For them, it’s not about the band. They’re wearing a vintage t-shirt as some kind of fashion statement. A bauble of faux cool. Screw you.
Again, save your hate mail. I know I’m being irrational, but I’m one of those people who believe that if you’re going to wear a band t-shirt, you gotta love the band.
The latest should-you-be-wearing-that issue involves Kanye West’s Testament t-shirt. For those unfamiliar with the band, Testament is a serious metal band.
Kanye is taking flak for showing up in public like this.

Testament’s Alex Skolnick had this to say (Via Blabbermouth):
‘Oh no he didn’t!’ Wait, yes he did… Goodness gracious. This whole decrepit clan must have picked up a pile of old concert t-shirts (the same pile Kourtney K’s SLAYER shirt came from) which have somehow become a ‘thing’ in trendy fashion (who’d have thought?!!). Inconceivable that any of these pop-culture vultures know who the heck any of the bands are. My guess is he thinks it’s a religious group (not the first time that’s happened). That is, if he thinks at all, which lately seems unlikely. And I thought this time period couldn’t get any weirder…”
He then followed that up with this Facebook post:
If you want to weigh in about who and who should not wear certain band shirts, fill yer boots in the comments section. Fight it out amongst yourselves. Meanwhile, I’ll be over here feeling dirty about being suckered into giving Kanye more attention over nothing.

Misfits clothes have been fashion accessories for a long time
I get that in today’s world of instant entertainment knowledge, anyone can listen or watch virtually anything, about any artist, from any generation, decade, genre, or record.
But, I am with Allan on this one, and I am sorry for bringing it to his attention due to the Kanye connection.
If someone, be it a celebrity, music artist or John & Jane Q Public individual wants to wear a vintage T-shirt by an artist, please…PLEASE have some knowledge of said artist. Don’t wear it because your local vintage shirt store is selling them for $150, and it would be considered trendy in your fashionista eyes.
Buy & wear the shirt, which is also probably available at any other music store, or maybe even Wal Mart for $30 – $40, only if you like the band, artist, TV show or whatever.
I have personally seen people wearing RAMONES T-shirts, and have asked them to name me one Ramones song, album, member or anything about the band. I get blank stares in return.
Why are they wearing it? It’s cool.
But you come off like a zombie with the blank stare when asked a basic, simple, easy question.
I just don’t get it.
Amen.
I once saw some wearing a Che Guevara shirt that said on the bottom “I have no idea who this is”
