Kanye West Sued for Uncleared Sample in “Unbound 2”

Ricky Spicer couldn’t believe it.  Was that his 12 year-0ld voice sampled over and over again on Kanye West’s Yeezus album?  Yes, it was.  Did anyone ask for permission to use this sample?  No.

Cue the lawyers.

Here’s the original from 1971.  The track is called “Bound.”

And here’s the hideous Kanye track called, er, “Bound 2.”  It’ll take all of a few seconds before you go “Uh-oh.”

Lots of people are swept up in this lawsuit:  Universal Music Group, Roc-A-Fella Records and Island Def-Jam.  More details at The New York Daily News.
