Kayne: The Musical and Karen O: The Opera

Given the size of Kayne West’s ego, I’m surprised he hasn’t done a musical on himself already.  Instead, the job will fall to Philip Rosser of the drama society at Sydney University in Australia.  The libretto will tell the story of Kanye’s rise to power.

Yes, there’s a Facebook page. And coverage in the LA Times.  A premiere is coming at a festival in Sydney early next month.

Meanwhile, like Damon Albarn and Stewart Copeland, Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has caught the opera bug.  Her production–a “psycho opera,” whatever that is–will be called Stop the Virgens [sic].  More details can be found here.
