Kid Rock got punked by pro-Kremlin trolls

Kid Rock remains one of Donald Trump’s biggest supporters. It appears that Russian trolls took notice and exploited this love.

According to a new study called Bad Reputation: Suspected Russian Actors Leverage Alternative Tech Platforms in Continued Effort to Covertly Influence Right-Wing U.S. Audiences, two groups (one from Standford) identified Kid Rock as someone whose social media persona was stolen/co-opted by Kremlin-loving trolls to spread Russian lies.

I quote from the study: “[A]ctors behind this activity use fake personas to pose as members of the community they are attempting to infiltrate and influence. The Kid Rock ‘fan page’ accounts were by far the most successful in this regard, building a large follower base and reportedly viewed online as genuine Kid Rock accounts. However, we also identified other personas presenting as authentic right-wing users.”

The platforms used were Trump’s Truth Social, Gab, and Gettr.

They were good, too. One troll which went by the name KidRockOfficial managed to get something reposted by Donald Trump. Donald Trump Jr. also reposted something on Instagram.

Badass stuff, huh, Kid Rock?
