Kinda Cool: A Time-Lapse Trip Down Route 66. With Music, Of Course.

Route 66 is the famous route from Chicago to LA that first opened in 1926.  Twenty years later, a songwriter named Bobby Troup wrote a song about the highway, which was then recorded by Nat King Coole.

Since then, the song has been covered by a billion people including Chuck Berry, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, the Replacements and the Cramps.  It’s also just one of three cover songs ever recorded by Depeche Mode.

Back in the summer, Brian DeFrees went on a roadtrip in his 2009 Honda Civic from Chicago to LA taking time-lapse photos along the way.
