LadBaby will NOT compete for the UK Christmas #1 this year. That opens the door to AC/DC. Here’s how.

LadBaby, the husband-and-wife team behind five consecutive UK Christmas #1’s themed on sausage rolls, has announced that they will not participate in the batsh*t craziness this year. From Music-News.com:

“The YouTuber and his wife – whose real names are Mark and Roxanne Hoyle – broke a record with five consecutive festive chart-toppers about his love of sausage rolls in the Official UK Singles Chart, raising funds for the food bank charity The Trussell Trust, however, they have decided to “pass the baton” to other artists and songwriters this year.”

This is good news for fans of AC/DC. Here’s why. Fans have launched a campaign to make AC/DC the British Christmas #1.

This isn’t the first time this has been attempted. Back in 2013, a similar group of fans tried to push “Highway to Hell” to the top in honour of its 40th anniversary, but it stalled out at number four. Still, it was the best showing ever for AC/DC on the British charts.

So what song should get the support? That’s not been determined, although “Back in Black,” “Thunderstruck,” “Touch Too Much,” “Hells Bells,” and the all-too-obvious “Mistress for Christmas” have been suggested so far.

If you want to know more and perhaps lend your support, go here. Meanwhile, you should know that bookies are making The Pogues “Fairytale of New York” the favourite for this year.
