Lady Gaga Gets Big Payday from Russian Oligarch to Play at Wedding.

Artists used to joke that they’d play weddings, parties, bar mitzvahs, anything–but that’s not much of a joke anymore. With dwindling sales of music, it’s become very hard to turn down a big payday playing a corporate gig or some big private celebration. This is where Lady Gaga found herself over the weekend.

She played a wedding stage by two of the wealthiest families in Russia. Lolita Osmanova, the daughter of energy tycoon Eldar Osmanov got married to millionaire Albert Avdolyan’s son Gaspar. The venue was the Dolby Theatre, the same place where the Oscars are held every year. And yes, it was expensive.

With flowers costing $500,000 alone, the whole bill came to somewhere near $10 million USD, including Gaga’s fee, which must have been in the $1 million range.
