Last call for fan votes for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2023

Every year, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gives fans a chance to offer input into who will get inducted this year. It’s a nice gesture, but keep in mind that this is largely a marketing issue that signifies very little. Whoever wins the fan vote will get exactly one (1) vote to go with the 900+ votes from Rock Hall members.

Still, it’s kinda fun. The fan vote ends Friday. You can make your contribution here. Meanwhile, here were the current standings when I last checked. The runaway vote-getters so far aren’t exactly rock’n’roll, are they?

  1. George Michael – 953,025 Votes
  2. Cyndi Lauper – 857495
  3. Warren Zevon – 590808
  4. Iron Maiden – 415858
  5. Soundgarden – 415858
  6. Willie Nelson – 372465
  7. Kate Bush – 327677
  8. Joy Division/New Order – 312316
  9. Sheryl Crow – 311150
  10. The Spinners – 285710
  11. Rage Against the Machine – 257465
  12. White Stripes – 188930
  13. Missy Eilliot – 136749
  14. A Tribe Called Quest – 117940

  • Maybe it is time for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to change their name to the “Music Hall of Fame” since often the groups being inducted have nothing to do with rock
