Let’s check on Canadian music sales and streaming for this week

It’s Tuesday, so that must mean it’s time to look at how Canadian music sales and streaming are doing. We begin as usual with the year-over-year numbers. Keep in mind that January is traditionally a very slow month.

  • Total album sales, -26.0%
  • CD sales, -50.4%
  • Digital albums, -11.5%
  • Digital tracks, -26.7%
  • Vinyl LPs, +13%
  • On-demand audio streams, +8.9%

Now here are the week-over-week numbers.

  • Total album sales, -3.4%
  • CD sales, +2.2%
  • Digital albums, +5.3%
  • Digital tracks, +1.7%
  • Vinyl LPs, -28.7%
  • On-demand audio streams, +5.8% (1.723 billion streams in the country last week)
