Let’s deconstruct Kanye’s threat to Coachella

Ye’s at it again. As a headliner at this year’s Coachella, he’s holding the festival hostage until Billie Eilish apologizes for a diss against his buddy Travis Scott, the guy at the centre of the whole Astroworld disaster back in November when so many people died and got hurt. Ye says he won’t play unless she says she’s sorry.

Billie, another Coachella headliner, is understandably confused. Let’s deconstruct the situation.

Back on February 5, Billie was performing in Atlanta when she saw a fan in distress. She stopped the show so that this person could get an inhaler to stop an asthma attack. Billie said the following:

“Do you need an inhaler? Who needs it? Do we have an inhaler? Can we just grab one? Guys, give it some time. Don’t crowd … We’re taking care of our people, hold on. I wait for people to be OK until I keep going.”

Notice that she didn’t mention Travis Scott or anything other than a wish to see that everyone in the crowd was safe. Ye, however, saw this as an insult against his man Travis.

Um, a stretch? A little sensitive?

Billie replied [I] literally never said a thing about Travis. was just helping a fan.”

There’s also speculation that even though Scott was disinvited to Coachella following what happened at Astroworld, Ye might be thinking of bringing him out during his headliner set. That would be batsh*t.
