Let’s look at the weekly Canadian sales battle between CDs and vinyl

We can probably call it now: Vinyl will outsell CDs in Canada in 2025. Barring a complete collapse in the vinyl market, we’ll buy more LPs than CDs this year. Here are the latest numbers via Luminate.

  • CDs sold in Canada last week: 31,271 (up a healthy 9.2% from last week)
  • Vinyl sales in Canada last week: 31,250 (up 3.6% from a week earlier)
  • CDs sold in Canada this year: 262,107 (up 2.3% from a year ago.)
  • Vinyl sold in Canada this year: 294.918 (up 16.2% from this point in 2024).

Streaming numbers:

  • Songs streamed in Canada last week: 2,789,251,645 (down 2.1% from last week)
  • Songs streamed in Canada so far this year: 24,987,623,679 (up 6.2% from a year ago.)
