Let’s take a roll call of all artists who demand Donald Trump stop using their music at his rallies
The number of artists who are very annoyed at Donald Trump for using their music at his rallies keeps growing. The Foo Fighters are the latest to express displeasure when it came to light that “My Hero” was used at a rally Friday night (Aug 23).
According to Billboard, the Foos plan to take some sort of legal action against Trump. They will also donate any royalties derived from Trump using the song to the Harris/Walz campaign.
Meanwhile, the estate of Isaac Hayes has been granted an emergency hearing in federal over over the use of his song “Hold On, I’m Coming.” The legal documents say the song has been used 134 times without permision. The demand is for US$3 million for a licensing fee. The NRA, Turning Point USA, and The Republican National Congress are also named in the suit.
Who else hates Trump using their music? Here’s a list (via Loudwire):
- Taylor Swift

Here’s the rub, though: These artists may hate Trump using their music, but there may not be much they can do. When Trump holds a rally, there’s almost a 100% chance that the venue holds a performing rights license. That gives anyone who uses the venue to play whatever music they want.
