Linkin Park Among the Most Popular Artists in the World on Spotify This Week
To the surprise of no one, streams of Linkin Park’s music shot up following the news of Chester Bennington’s death. The result was that Linkin Park–a rock band–was the most popular artist in the world on Spotify. Rock bands NEVER reach that peak.
According to a streaming music data monitor called Kworb, there were 14.77 million Linkin Park streams this past Saturday. That was more than Justin Bieber (12.6 million), Quavo (10.4 million) and Daddy Yankee (9.9 million.)
And there’s more to these numbers than you might think. To keep people from gaming the system, Spotify actually puts a limit on the number of times anyone can play an individual song over 24 hours. The biggest songs? “Numb,” “Heavy” and “In the End.”
