If you’re reading this at work, there’s an excellent chance that music is playing. We’ve known for over a hundred years that music can increase worker productivity and satisfaction. It can also make a boring job more bearable.

But what’s the best way to listen to music at work? Through the air? Over headphones? Streamed through a computer in your cube? What when listening to music–as you, say, work in an office or a retail space–where you can’t hide from it? In other words, what if listening to music is a job requirement?
