Listen to the Original Demos of Queen’s “We Will Rock You”

When Queen was working on their News or the World album back in 1977, Freddie Mercury wanted to come up with something that would work as a football chant and/or club song. The result, “We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions,” could be the most-played of all sports anthems.

Here, though, is how both tracks began life in ’77. Both of these recordings appear on the brand new 40th-anniversary reissue of News of the World. Fascinating.
