If you have a smartphone (and if you don’t, you’d better get with the herd), you’ll know that you’re carrying a computer around with you, the equivalent of a Star Trek tricorder.

Think about the many different ways you use it.  Now think about how you use your smartphone to listen to music. MP3s. Apps, Streaming music services. Now things about how radio–traditional over-the-air broadcast radio–fits in.  Interesting, no?

Make no mistake: traditional terrestrial radio is still doing very, very well and reaches billions of people a day. But we are seeing a technological shift when it comes to the access of music and information. Those in the business who ignore the rise of the smartphone and its impact on their business will soon be very, very sorry.
