Looking to hear that surprise Jack White surprise album? Here’s what you do.

On Friday without any fanfare or warning, Jack White released a vinyl album. It came in a plain white cardboard sleeve. The words “NO NAME” were stamped on the white label. There’s no tracklisting. The only place where anyone could find a physical copy was at the three Third Man Record Stores (Nashville, Detroit, London) where employees quietly slipped copies into customers’ shopping bags unbidden. And it wasn’t officially made available on any of the streaming services.

Great news for people who managed to get a copy. But what about the rest of us? Can we at least hear it somewhere?

Yes. Jack is encouraging those with copies to rip it to digital. When WDET-FM/Detroit played the whole record on the air, someone recorded it and then uploaded everything to YouTube. Others have done the same. (See below.)

Meanwhile, Jack White’s official reddit page has uploaded a rip to Google Drive. Help yourself!

  • Interesting the way HE shard the tracks in different formats, and sides (.mp3 and .aiff, and individual tracks and Side A / Side B, and all the files were modified on 1899-12-29 @ 7:00 p.m. THANK YOU Mr. White.
