Man Argues with Girlfriend About Car Radio; Dies in the Subsequent Crash
There was an interesting court case happening in the UK right now regarding the death of 24 year-old Alex Pearn.
Last September he and his girlfriend, Jane Hauerslev, were on their way home to Devon after staying with some friend in Cornwell with Jane behind the wheel of their Citroen Saxo. At some point, they got into an argument about how loud the music on the radio should be. Alex wanted it loud; Jane didn’t.
As they both took turns cranking it up and then down again, Jane became distracted and drove the car into a tree at 70mph. Alex was killed.
Jane admitted to causing death by careless driving. She’s been sentenced to 240 hours of unpaid community work–and she won’t be driving anywhere for two years.
