Band Turns Washing Machine into a Musical Instrument

Introducing Matmos, an experimental electronic pair from San Francisco who enjoy making music out of found sound. You may remember their hit album, A Chance to Cut is a Chance to Cure, which was created using the sounds of actual medical procedures. That including such tones and timbres as cutting, slicing and the odd bit of gushing. Who knew that the sucking sound of liposuction equipment could be put to musical use?

They’ve done other things since, but their latest opus is Ultimate Care II, which was made entirely of sounds generated by a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II washing machine. Please feel free to read more at Laundry.Reviewed.com.
