Meet Your 2014 Polaris Music Prize Grand Jury

With the Polaris Music Prize Gala about a month away, it’s time to meet the people who will be sequestered until a winner is declared.  (I was a member of the Grand Jury last year.  Believe me, it ain’t no picnic.  I’d tell you more, but I’m sworn to a lifetime of secrecy.)

This year, the burden of choosing a winner rests upon

Adam Bowie – Daily Gleaner (Fredericton)
Lorraine Carpenter – CultMTL (Montréal)
Stephen Cooke – Chronicle Herald (Halifax)
Jessica Émond-Ferrat – Journal Métro (Montréal)
Luke Fox– Exclaim (Toronto)
Liisa Ladouceur – Freelance (Toronto)
Melody Lau – Much (Toronto)
Julia LeConte – NOW (Toronto)
Stephanie McKay – Star Phoenix (Saskatoon)
Alan Ranta – Freelance (Vancouver)
Mark Teo – AUX (Toronto)

As for performers at the gala at the Carlu in downtown Toronto on September 22, we have Basia Bulat, Mac DeMarco, Jessy Lanza, Owen Pallett, Shad and Tanya Tagaq.  Members of Arcade Fire and YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN will also be there.
