Metallica has named winners in their marching band contest

Anyone who watches college football knows that marching bands are a big deal in the US. Many of these bands choose to perfect Metallica songs as part of their repertoire. Metallica is flattered by this so last April, they announced a contest featuring almost US$200,000 in prizes to see which band could pull off the best Metallica routine. They also pulled together a ton of sponsors (TAMA, KHS America, Zildjian, D’Addario Woodwinds, Evans Drumheads, ProMark, Gator, Sweetwater, Conn Selmer, and Hal Leonard), all of which provided instruments and equipment.

Over 450 schools took up the challenge. Here’s the winning entry. If you want to see the full performances of each of the categories, go here.
