Mick Jagger’s Girlfriend Commits Suicide [UPDATE]
L’Wren Scott, the Mick Jagger’s 6 ft-4 in designer girlfriend since 2001, was found dead in her Manhattan apartment just after 10am on Monday. She hanged herself using a scarf.
Scott, who was 49, was found by her assistant. There’s no immediate suspicion of foul play although a full investigation will be launched.
Jagger and the Stones are in Australia. Jagger is quoted as being “shocked and devastated.”
So what might have led to this? Some people speculate that because Scott’s fashion company, LS Fashion Ltd., was deeply in debt (somewhere north of $6 million), the result of years of compound losses, that the embarrassment became too much for her.
Scott hadn’t been seen in public with Mick since November, although by all accounts they had a very normal Christmas together at Jagger’s house in Mustique. However, Scott was conspicuously absent on the Stones current world tour. The band is currently in Australia but has canceled a show in Perth with the rest of the tour postponed.
