Milestones in merch: KISS cereal and a Metallica puzzle

With physical music sales not what they used to be, even the biggest bands need to find new sources of revenue.

KISS is the champion of merch with official branding on more than 7.000 products from condoms to caskets. (“We get you coming and going!” Gene Simmons once chortled at me.) The latest bit of KISS merch is–wait for it–a breakfast cereal. And just US$7.99 a box, too.

Meanwhile, Metallica is in the process of releasing a series of jigsaw puzzles based on the artwork of their albums. I cant wait to see the black album. That will be fun, no?
