The Misfits are only the latest band to announce a reunion for the festival circuit. Last week it was announced that for the first time since 1983, Glenn Danzing, Jerry Only, and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein will perform together at Riot Fest in Chicago in September.
Danzig sounded genuinely thrilled and excited about the reunion in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. Although they have had their disagreements in the past, Billboard notes that “reconciliation helped bring them back together, but so did their own real-life mortality”.
Reflecting on the recent deaths of David Bowie and Prince, Danzig stated: “David Bowie’s death came out of the blue, as did Prince’s…And I’ve said it before with Peter Steele and Dio: If you’re a music fan, you think these artists will be here forever, but you should enjoy them while they’re here, because you never know what will happen. You’ve got to enjoy it and let it happen before everybody dies”.
The Misfits frontman ensures that the trio are all in good health, so maybe we can hope for a full tour and some new music.
