More AI artists are starting to get record deals

Bleeding Verse, an AI band with nearly a million monthly listeners, has a new “creative deal” with a company called Hallwood Media, the product of Neil Jacobson, who used to be an executive at Geffen Records. I guess he’s grown tired having to deal with those damn temper-mental human musicians.

Here’s what Bleeding Verse sounds like. This track has around a million listens so far.

Hallwood Media is also the home of Xania Monet. She–it–sounds like this.

And then we have “imoliver.” There’s currently a pre-save campaign for an upcoming song entitled “Bury Me with My Phone.” He/it is also a product of generative AI program Suno–which, lest we forget, is being sued by the major labels.

It remains to be seen if these fake artists catch on in a major way. But I’ll say it again: I want AI to do the sh*t I don’t want to do, so I can spend more time being creative and making art. What need are these AI artists serving?

I’ll have more on the AI wave later this week.
