More Music from the Inbox, 10 April 2013: Broxton Hundred, Grateful Slicks, Le Dim and More

By Larry Lootsteen

Artist: The Broxton Hundred, “She Brings The Light”

Album: Higher Surroundings

I love that their sound has that creeping dark edge to it.  Lots of great tracks!

Sounds like:  A follow on to Kings of Leon

Album: Demo 5

Their name is a shoutout to the lead singer of Jefferson Airplane.  This shoegaze band has brilliant sounds.

Sounds like:  An agitated kind of madness

Artist: Lé DiM, “If You Do That”

Album: N/A

No idea how to describe this one beyond interesting.  Definitely brightened my day!

Sounds like:  A folksy club mix

Artist: Dantevilles, “Instead of Dinner”

Album: Day One

Great sounds coming out of Yorkshire these days!

Sounds like:  Jazz meets folk in a bar, over drinks

Artist: Woodpigeon, “Edinburgh”

Album: Thumbtacks & Glue

Calgary based.  With a sense of classic orchestral sounds mixed in with a modern ethic, Woodpigeon really knows how to bring it!

Sounds like:  Spinning in circles, looking for inspiration

Artist: Marie Avery, “Heavy”

Album: The Fire

I love her spirited voice.  Pure passion resonates.

Sounds like:  An angel fighting to keep her wings
