[A new batch of discoveries with final evaluation by Larry Lootsteen. – AC]

Artist: Autumns Cannon, “Open Letter (Consider This)”

Album: Open Letter

This Ottawa based band has some classic sounds.

Sounds like:  Something about this made me think of Nick Cave.

Artist: Mujeres, “Far Away”

Album: Soft Gems

Next time you are in Spain…

Sounds like: The 60’s tripped on the 80’s and fell into the here and now…

Artist: Beach Beach, “Plants”

Album: Tasteless Peace

Sticking with our travels to Spain today, this outfit has a very cool sound and lists influences like My Bloody Valentine.

Sounds like: Punky. Rocky. Indie!!!

Beach Beach “Plants” from La Castanya on Vimeo.

Artist: Of Montreal, “Our Love Is Senile

Album: Daughter of Cloud

Just one of those bands you can never really tire of…

Sounds like: Time–travelling Talking Heads

Artist: Equal Scales, “Porcelain”

Album: BadJazz

EP is out now – definitely worth checking out.

Sounds like: Alice in Chains came by for a visit

Artist: Auras, “Susurrus”

Album: Panacea

Beautiful track from the Cambridge, Ontario area band making some noise here and beyond.  While this track does not show their screamo style, it certainly reflects their talents.

Sounds like: A dream in search of a nightmare just beyond sight
