Movie based on the UK’s Creation records due in March

Creation Records, the scrappy (and drug-fueled label) indie British label run by Alan McGee, is being turned into a movie. Creation was the initial home to Oasis (McGee signed them personally), My Blood Valentine, Primal Scream, and the Jesus and Mary Chain. So yeah, there are some stories here.

The whole thing is structured as a biopic of McGee, an enthusiastic drug-taker who somehow helped to establish one of the great British indie labels. The movie is the product of Danny Boyle (who was behind Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, and the upcoming Sex Pistols TV series) and Irvine Welsh, the author of Trainspotting. McGee will be portrayed by Ewen Bremner, you night remember as the hapless Spud from Trainspotting.

A premiere is scheduled for March. Here’s a teaser clip.
