‘Murica: Linkin Park karaoke leads to shooting.
1First of all, choosing a Linkin Park song for karaoke is risky unless you can do both Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda‘s vocals. Second, why would you take a gun to a karaoke spot?
Friday, July 11, was supposed to be afun night out at Louie’s Corner House, in Buckeye Lake, Ohio. People gathered to toast the end of the week, relax, and maybe sing a few songs with the karaoke machine.
When it came to his turn, Benjamin “Donkey” Hawk grabbed the mic and began singing “One More Light” to his new girlfriend, Kylie. About halfway through, Richard Lindgren walked up to the stage and shot Hawk in the back of the head. He then spun on his heels, walked out, got in his car and drove away. Hawk died at the scene.
Turns out that Hawk’s new girlfriend is Lindgren’s ex-wife. This is from DJ Humble, the host of the night.
“I saw every second of it from four feet away. It was directly in front of me. Hawk and his girlfriend had been coming to my shows within the past two months. I had met Hawk prior at karaoke shows because he is a part of the karaoke community. His girlfriend and Lindgren were married up until a few months ago, and I’ve known them for a couple years. I sometimes saw Lindgren blurt out hateful words to his ex when she would get up to sing. He would call her names and bash her character. I recently had a talk with him two weeks prior and told him if he was going to act like that, he was not welcome.”
Lindgren was arrested Saturday
