Music Festival in Romania Will Give You Free Tickets for Your Blood

Well, this is the land of Dracula, after all.

Romania has a blood donation problem. According to the latest statistics, only 1.7% of the population ever give blood, a situation that leads to severe shortages and endangers patient care. In an effort to fix that situation, the organizers of the UNTOLD Festival are making concert-goers a deal: if you donate blood, you’ll get free tickets to the show.

The “Pay with Blood” campaign set something up with the national Blood Transfusion Institute, setting up 42 blood donation sites in 42 cities across the country for ten days. If you’re in Bucharest and Cluj, you automatically get free tickets. Donors in the other 40 cities will get substantial discounts.

UNTOLD, an electro-dance event–featuring Wu-Tang Clan–will be held in Cluj the first weekend in August.

Oh, and did I mention that Cluj is considered the historical capital of Transylvania?  Now it all makes sense…
