Naked David Lee Roth (No, Not That Kind of Naked)

One of the coolest things I ever heard was a raw 24-track version of Queen’s “Killer Queen.”  It was the original two-inch master tape that Roy Thomas Baker used to mix down the song for Sheer Heart Attack in 1975.

When you hear a song this way, you have a completely new appreciation for the creativity and work that went into recording the track.  (If you want to hear it, just Google “Queen 24 track” and choose from any number of torrent sites.)

This popped into my email box this morning.  It’s the isolated vocal of David Lee Roth for “Runnin’ With the Devil,” the first track on their 1978 self-titled debut.  No music.  Just Dave.  Cool.
