Years ago, I bought something at Radio Shack called a “colour organ.” It was a box containing a series of coloured lights behind a lenticular cover. (Here’s a demo.) It made me very cool amongst my geek friends.

I was reminded of those flashing lights in my basement bedroom when I saw this.
